  • – Speaking to reporters in Ottawa, Via Rail President and CEO Paul Côté explains the company's plans to expand to offer high-speed rail service in Canada. He further noted that ridership has increased by 33% since 1990 mostly attributed to capital improvement projects. Among the projects being investigated for future improvements is a study to bring high-speed service between Quebec City and Windsor that could bring recommendations by 2010.[1]
